NSAID-induced strictures are an increasingly common cause of small bowel obstruction and iron-deficiency anemia. We report the case of a 67-year-old male who presented with severe anemia and a 15-year history of NSAID use. After negative workup and standard imaging, double-balloon enteroscopy revealed four benign small bowel strictures. It is suspected that similar cases may be increasing in prevalence and are likely underdiagnosed. It is important to increase clinician awareness of this condition due to the high risk of small bowel obstruction and perforation if left untreated. Discontinuation of NSAIDs is corrective treatment and may spare unnecessary surgical intervention.
